Sumner Alpert Scholarship
About the Scholarship
The ASP Conference scholarship is named for Sumner Alpert, co-founder and long-time Secretary of the Association, who passed away in June 2004. The scholarship recognizes his life long commitment to learning and continuing education.
The scholarship pays a full-time student's registration fee to the ASP Annual Conference. The number of scholarships awarded in any given year is dependent upon available funding. The scholarship is funded through donations by members and friends of the Association.

Vishal is currently studying at the Graziadio School of Business and Management, Pepperdine University. While working with a career counselor at the school, he learned about the Association of Strategic Planning. He was particularly interested in attending the conference as he wishes to pursue a career in strategic planning.
Vishal is a Chartered Accountant (equivalent to US CPA) and worked in banking and manufacturing in India before coming to the US to study for his MBA. At Pepperdine, he is a member of that school's recently formed Management Consulting Club.
Following his attendance at the annual conference, Vishal commented "Strategic planning is an important driving force in today's dynamic business environment and in the future. In this age of information and globalization, knowledge of strategic planning will be an important asset for my future aspirations and I believe that the Association for Strategic Planning will be a good place to network with my future colleagues."
The scholarship is available to any full-time student with an interest in strategic management, planning, strategy, or a similar discipline or area of interest.
To qualify, students must send a Statement of Interest and their resume. They also need to have a professor provide a reference letter or email. Please send all submissions to:
